When was the last time you reviewed your skincare routine?

It’s the start of a new year, and while you’re penning down your resolutions for things like savings, fitness and dietary goals, why not include your #skingoals too! Let 2020 be a year of clear, blemish-free skin!

As it is, skincare does not have to be difficult, and achieving healthy skin can be real simple! We help you break it down into 5 simple, easy-to-follow steps! Trust us, this is a routine that needs no second guesses.

1) Get rid of that grime

Undeniably the most important step of the game, is the need to cleanse! After a full day of being out and about, your skin has been exposed to a multitude of germs and pollutants. Remember to always end off the day with a good double cleansing. Try a facial cleansing wipe like the ActivCalm Makeup Removal Wipes that can even remove waterproof makeup, and follow up with a gentle cleanser such as the ActivCalm Gentle Cleansing Milk to finish off your cleansing routine.

P.S. Include the LumiWhite Exfoliating Scrub that contains biodegradable jojoba exfoliating beads to unclog your pores and slough off any dead skin cells at least once a week!

2) Prep your skin

You may pile on your skincare, but if you don’t prep your skin beforehand, the product wouldn’t be working at its maximum potential! This is why it is important to follow the right steps to ensure that your products are not wasted. That being said, the way to prep your skin would be to use a toner.

A toner has many functions, and each are equal parts important! Firstly, a swipe of toner-infused cotton pad across your skin can help to remove any residual makeup/cleanser. It also helps to balance your skin’s pH levels, minimise the appearance of open pores, and act as a humectant to bind moisture to your skin! What this means is that the rest of the products you layer on after, will better adhere to your skin and keep your skin hydrated overnight! Try the ActivCalm Skin Calming Lotion Essence, that is suitable for even sensitive skin types!

3) Power up your routine

Some may choose to skip this step and reach straight for their moisturiser after applying their toner. But did you know, a choice serum can help improve your skin by leaps and bounds! Serums are power-packed cocktails which consist of a blend of active ingredients that target your skin’s specific needs.

Based on your skin type, here are some serums which you can consider trying:

Oily/acne-prone skin: PurClear Retexturing Serum

Ageing/lacklustre skin: VitaLift A+ Cellular Repair Serum

Dehydrated skin:ActivCalm Ultra Hyalusol Serum

Sensitive skin: ActivCalm Ultra-Calm Serum

Dull/uneven skin: LumiWhite Brightening Serum

4) Massage it in

Many of us tend to lightly pat in our moisturiser, but did you know, a little facial massage goes a long way! Spend just 2 minutes every night to give your skin a little TLC by massaging your moisturiser in, and you’d be surprised to see that your skin will not only feel and look firmer, but will also sport a brighter glow the next day due to an improvement in your skin’s blood circulation.

P. S. We do not recommend this for acne-prone skin though!

5) Pack it on

Finally, it helps to pamper your skin too! Apply a sheet mask once or twice a week, to show your skin some love! Sheet masks come in many forms, and we highly recommend the award-winning VitaLift A+ Brillage Mask that’s made of nano biocellulose material which firmly adheres to the skin, whilst providing triple benefits of hydration, brightening and anti-ageing!

Did you know, the nano biocellulose material works as a great barrier against external irritants, making it great for sensitive skin too?

There you have it, a 5-step skincare routine for your new year, new me, new #skingoals! You’re ready to kick some ass in the new decade!

In good hands,
Estetica
