After the Euphoria comes the Regret…

So… the chicken (me) has been sufficiently/excessively fattened up from the 15 days of endless feasting. Now, it’ll just take the rest of the year to get rid of the bak kwa, pineapple tarts, mini prawn rolls, love letters, kueh lapis… etc etc …crying_emoticon

You’d probably know by now that overloading your body system makes you bloated and lethargic so now’s probably a good time to be thinking: D-E-T-O-X

Tip #1: Eat Your Fibre

Notice the general lack of greenery during your CNY diet? Well, eating all that rich food probably overburdened your digestive system and caused toxins to accumulate in your body. In order to DETOX, you need to load up on fibre-rich foods, specifically insoluble fibre. Commonly found in vegetables and grains, insoluble fibre is not readily digested by our bodies. Think of it as swallowing a broom – as it moves through your digestive system, it helps sweep things along your digestive tract, leaving you feeling less bloated. Beets, radishes, artichokes, cabbage, broccoli, spirulina, chlorella, and seaweed are excellent detoxifying foods.

Tip #2: Drink Plenty Of Water

Well, the water taps that were hiding (in plain sight) during CNY have all returned. Remember: water is integral to the digestion process. If you can, add some lemon juice to a warm glass of water every morning as this citrus fruit can help promote digestion, regulate bowel movement and aid in the detoxification process.

Tip #3: Take In Some Culture

Deep breathing allows oxygen to circulate more completely throughout your body and promote a state of calmness. This can free your mind and body from stress hormones that create toxins and slow down detoxification enzymes in the liver, while allowing you the space and time to… breathe…

Tip #5: Sweat It Out

So you’ve probably consumed enough calories to sustain a small herd of rhinoceros for a week.
